Dearest Reader People
I’ve recently consolidated all my writing here on the newly named Wayward. Having done so, I’m conscious that phones don’t display the sections of my substack and that not everyone reads Notes or wants to Chat.
Should you wish to subscribe only to some or all of my writing, here are the links to those sections with brief description of content:
Tough tale about teens caught up in London’s gang culture
Literary short stories and flash fiction
Reflections on all that inspires my writing
Reflecting on the brilliance of the Bible’s storytelling
If you’re already a subscriber to one section and wish to subscribe to another, it looks like you have to unsubscribe from Wayward and then resubscribe, which will then give you the new options. Apols. Somewhat a pain.
What you’ll discover here, then, is literary fiction and faith reflection, with storytelling and its ancient power as the gravitational centre.
Unfortunately, the term literary fiction seems to have dissolved into a mush of either the waffly/florid or else done-to-deathcrafted prose that’s no where near as clever as it thinks it is. Alas, I have no better phrase to describe my failing enterprise to pen fiction that longs to be literature.
Equally, Catholic I am, but it’s a loaded word these days that seems more designed to create barriers than open doors (its original meaning). You’ll find an exploratory version of faith here and one that’s always open to learning and genuine dialogue.
Thanks for all your interest and ongoing support.

I went Scriptourer and was going to leave a comment on the Genesis piece, but was unable to do that without creating a profile. So I’ll leave it here:
This was magnificent, Adrian. I listened to your recording of this article, which really brings it to life. Interestingly, the letter “b” in both Hebrew and Arabic is a preposition meaning “in”; and Muslim and Jewish scholars in the middle ages drew parallels to the fact that both the opening of the Torah (beresheet) and Qur’an (bismallah) open with it.
Looking forward as always, Adrian!
